Obituary for Priscilla Alice Havener

ROCKLAND – Priscilla A. Havener, 76, died peacefully, following a period of declining health, Thursday, January 12, 2017, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Born in St. George, October 27, 1940, she was the daughter of Edward and Frances Harriman Curtis. Educated locally, she attended Rockland High School.

In 1958, Priscilla married Wendall W. Havener in Rockland. For over 58 years they have been side by side, sharing the ups and downs of life.

Following high school Priscilla worked for many years with F.J. O’Hara fish processing plant. Changing careers, she began as a store clerk, first at IGA in Rockland and later at Crossroads Market. While at Crossroads, she was known for her dry sense of humor and loved ‘razzing’ her regular customers. After 15 years at Crossroads, Priscilla worked for Walmart before her retirement.

Aside from her family, which she loved spending time with, Priscilla loved nothing more than taking trips to the casinos; as long as someone would pick her up, she was ready to go anywhere! She spent countless lunch hours playing cards with the women she worked with and loved going to Bingo.

Priscilla would do anything to help others in needs. The neighborhood kids always knew where to turn for a place to stay or a hot meal. She was known by many as ‘Ma’.

She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Predeceased by a sister, Gloria Coolbroth; a brother Donald Curtis; a granddaughter Morgan Wadsworth; a great-granddaughter Danielle Havener; Priscilla is survived by her husband of 58 years Wendall W. Havener; her daughter, Teresa Kaler of Rockland; her sons, William ‘Billy’ Havener and his companion Catherine Christie of Rockport, Wayne Havener and his companion April Rawley of Warren; a son-in-law Robert Wadsworth; her grandchildren, William “Willie’ Havener, Jr., Sarah Havener, Santa Havener, Ashley Havener, Travis Havener and Jasmine; her great-grandchildren, Emilee, Lydia, Noah, Leland, Jerzey, Jeremiah, Gracelyn, Amiyah, Trey, Amelia, Dominic, Damon, Gabby, Adalyn, Leah, Riley; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, where a celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 18.
