CUSHING – Herman ‘Harry’ Burakowski, 91, formerly of Sloatsburg, NY, died Saturday, January 28, 2017.
Born in Erie, PA, September 30, 1925, he was the son of Antoni and Frances Ciecierski Burakowski. Harry was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Navy.
Throughout his career, Harry worked as a foreman at AT&T, retiring in 1978. Later he enjoyed lobster fishing.
Harry is survived by his wife Bernice ‘Bunny’ Mitchell Burakowski; his four children, Joanne Rose, John Burakowski, Jean Yorke and her husband Michael, Jeff Burakowski and his wife Ginger (Erskine); nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 2, 2017, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. A memorial service with military honors will begin at 7:30 p.m. Pastor John Cuthbertson will officiate.
