ROCKLAND – Martin A. Ward, 65, died Friday, October 26, 2018, at the Knox Center in Rockland.

Born in Bar Harbor, January 11, 1953, he was the son of Franklin H. and Driscilla L. Gott Ward. While growing up in Manset, Martin attended in local schools and was 1971 graduate of M.D.I. High School. He earned an associates degree from Eastern Maine Vocational Technical College in 1973.

For a brief period, he worked with Addison Packing Company in Southwest Harbor. He later began employment with John Fancy Incorporated as a Wastewater Technician with the Waldoboro Utility District. He retired from that position in 2004.

For several years while his nephew Devon was involved, Martin was an active leader with Cub Scouts Pack 200, Camden – Rockport, where he served six years as secretary of that Pack. More recently he was a member of R.S.V.P. in Rockland.

Although his life was radically changed by the debilitating effects of Muscular Dystrophy, Martin’s care for and love of his friends and family, always came through.

For the past several years, he was a resident of the Methodist Home, where he enjoyed the friendship and comradery of many neighbors.

Other than his father, Martin was pre-deceased by two brothers, Rodney and Gordon, and a nephew Devon Stewart in 2010. He is survived by his mother, Driscilla Ward of Southwest Harbor; a brother William Ward and his family of Dexter; nieces and nephews including Katina Stewart, Holly York, Christy Nason, Shona Long, Jarod Rackliff, Scott Nason and their families.
