THOMASTON – Eileen Beckett, 72, died peacefully, following a period of declining health, Monday, November 19, 2018 at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.

Born December 4, 1945 in the family home in Thomaston, she was the daughter of Donald and Margaret Benner Beckett.

Educated locally, she was an honor graduate of the first class to graduate from Georges Valley High School. For many years she worked as a bookkeeper for J.J. Newberry in Rockland and later at the Waterfront Market in Thomaston.

She enjoyed traveling, especially trips in the U.S., Canada, and British Isles. She had a keen interest in English and Irish history.

Eileen is survived by her lifetime partner of 56 years, Maxwell E. ‘Max’ Oliver, Jr., of Rockland; her sisters, Shirley Stackpole of Hollis, NH, Laurel Wigglesworth of Thomaston; several nieces, nephews, great niece sand great-nephews and two aunts, and many cousins.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 26, 2018 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, where a celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2018. The Reverend Wayne Sawyer will officiate.
