The Midcoast Area Veterans Memorial, located at American Legion Post #1 in Rockland, is dedicated to all Veterans and all Veterans families from all wars and conflicts. The Memorial is an outdoor wall of laser-etched black granite tiles. It is paved and handicapped accessible. New tiles are installed by Memorial Day and Veterans Day each year.
All veterans who have honorably served our country are eligible for a tile. A digitized photo of your choice may be etched into a tile along with your veteran's name, rank, home town, location of service, as well as a short caption.
Applications for purchasing a tile are available at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home or you may order online at www.getetched.com/midcoastveteranswall. All funds raised are handled by the Finance Director of the City of Rockland. Fifty percent of the cost of the tiles is used to provide maintenance and upkeep of the Memorial, while the remainder of the funds goes toward the production of each tile.
